When it comes to reviewing products online, simply put, us social media users trust each other. Doing our research online before making a purchase is something nearly everybody does. We look for everything online from clothes, cars, electronics, and even DVD’s and books. You can most certainly bet that what we read online is going to which item we are going to purchase and whom we are going to purchase it from.
According The Nielsen Company, “60 percent of consumers researching products though multiple online sources learned about a specific brand or retailer through social networking sites.” Around 72% of consumers that were surveyed conveyed that they trust online reviews just as much as personal recommendations from their friends and family while 52% said that positive online reviews make them more likely to try out a local business.
Consumer reviews about a product or service are about 12 times more trusted than descriptions that come from manufacturers and companies. With over 80% of adults using social media, the market is there, you just need to tap into it. The future of retail isn’t about spreading a message, but having others spread it for you.
